Taiping's First Galleria

Affandi and I visited the First Galleria in Taiping on 2 March 2013. The First Galleria is housed in a renovated and restored colonial building at the edge of Taiping town, at the corner of the playing field of the King Edward VII School. Jalan Ong Saik runs by the First Galleria. Jalan Stesen ends at First Galleria.

First Galleria is cared for by Anuar Isa, its Senior Curator. He obtained at least RM2 million in funds to restore the colonial building. It is now a great classical colonial building belonging to Majlis Perbandaran Taiping.

Anuar Isa plans to hold a 3-month exhibition on The Early Malay Doctors at the First Galleria in Taiping. He plans to invite Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah to officiate the exhibition some time between 1 and 10 July 2013. However, this event has to be postponed as Tun Dr Mahathir will be overseas from 6 June 2013 onward. The exhibition may be re-schelduled to October 2013. Anuar Isa will update in Facebook and I will update here.

I would like to invite all Shaik Ahmad clan members to visit the exhibition on The Early Malay Doctors at the First Galleria when it opens to the public. One of the proposed 43 posters on display will be that of Dr Che Lah bin Md Joonos. Come one come all.
