A Poem For Old Ladies

bila kita muda, orang suka sebab cantik
bila kita tua krepot, orang tak suka
maka kita puasa sorang diri
buka puasa sorang diri

bila kita tua semua orang lari jauh
takut esok kita terlantar nak kena jaga
anak-anak pun takut sebab ibu dah tua
ibu tua ditinggalkan sorang diri

kesian ibu tua
dia tiada tempat bergantung
dia tiada pension atau insurans
maka tinggallah ibu tua sorang diri

malang nasib jadi ibu tua
panjang pendek usia bukan pilihan dia
tapi Allah yang tetapka usia
ibu tua tak mahu dihup sorang sepi

kesian ibu tua
tak de yang kisah pun
take yang singgah tengok
apa makanan dia untuk buka puasa

anak-anak zaman skrg mcm tu
ibu tua ditinggalkan sorang diri
kesian ibu tua
nak berjalan pun tak larat

WHAT THE HECK!
suami ada tapi tak mengaku suami!!!
apa dah jadi?
kesian ibu tua

tinggal sepi makan hati
dalam diam ibu tua akan pergi SLOWLY ...
membawa seribu cerita
ke hadapan Allah di kemudian hari

ini kah dikatakan zaman MODERN?
gaya hidup pilihan TOUCH N GO!
kesian ibu tua
dia tak tau dia ditinggalkan

OH, NO! Ibu tua!!
You got to fight back
this disease in men
they think they can just walk out the door

Yes, ibu tua
Next time, you lock the door in their face
And see their muka masam purik
Padan muka tinggalkan bini lagu ni

Ini cerita dari pondok
manusia boleh tipu bini
tapi ingat, listen listen listen ...
ALLAH KNOWS WHAT YOU DID LAST NIGHT!

I also know what you did last Raya ... berdengkur!

Aunty June's Family

I met Aunty June once when she was walking past me at Pak Saleh's house in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. I was seated against the wall and she and her sisters and their families walked past me. I thought they were important people (VIP) as they didn't look anything like me. I had thought they were Orang Puteh but later I found out they were Burghers.

Maxwell Road, Kuala Lumpur

Dr Che Lah and family at Maxwell Road home in Kuala Lumpur - between late 1940s to early 1950s, before my mother Tulip went to England. The house looks similar to the one at Port Dickson, with verandah all around the house.

My Cousins

I have 15 cousins, 8 are residing in Malaysia and 7 are in Australia.

I have met most of my cousins except for a few.

I met most of my cousins at Faisal's wedding reception in Bertam, Penang on 2 July 2013. Faisal's wedding reception was held at the MPSK Bertam, a big sports complex.

It will be good to meet everyone for the first time.

I met uncle Din's son, Kamarul Faisal, once at his home in Seberang Prai, a second time when Bapak died, and a third time when he got married - at his wedding reception in Bertam.

So far, I met one of aunty Esther's 2 children - I met Jeffrey but not his younger sister Veronica. I met Jeffrey first at Impiana KLCC, and second time at Faisal's wedding reception in Bertam.

I have not met any of aunty June's 5 children - Stephanie Druscilla, Gerald, Rex Allan, Vanessa Gloria, and Amanda Zoe. None of them came to Faisal's wedding reception.

I have met aunty Daisy's 7 children in Balga, Western Australia. I first met them when uncle Robert was still alive in 1988, long before Christmas. I met them again after uncle Robert died just before Christmas 1988. I met them again at Faisal's wedding reception in Bertam on 2 June 2013.

Family Reunion 2013

When our family members met at Uncle Din's son's wedding at Majlis Perbandaran Sukan & Kebudayaan (MPSK) in Bertam, it was a wonderful affair. I never imagined I would meet everyone again.

I met uncle Din and family - wife Intan and son Kamarul Faisal.

I met aunty Intan's two sisters - aunty Chom and aunty Latifah (Prof Nor Hayati's friend).

I also met aunty Chom's only daughter, Aizura. I didn't see or recognise aunty Chom's 2 sons - Boy and Boboy.

I met aunty Esther and aunty Daisy, and their children.

I met aunty Esther's son Jeffrey and his family - wife Siti Noor Azar Majid, and daughter Nur Hanis and her friend.

I met aunty Daisy's daughters - Frances, Jenny and Vicky, and Vicky's husband and son.
